Committee on Ministry (CoM)

Description of CoM

Communications Committee

Mission: To increase awareness in the larger community of our church and the values we represent by publicizing what our church does and joining with other groups for outreach and special events. Our primary focus is external communications and publicity; our secondary goal is helping to improve internal communication within the church.
Meetings: First Tuesday of each month at 5:30 p.m.

Design and Aesthetics Committee

Mission: To serve the congregation in matters of architectural, interior design, and other tasks having to do with aesthetics in and around our church facility; to help provide a continuing, beautiful, functional, and serene place for worship, fellowship, and individual meditation; to provide advice so that any changes to our property are compatible with the overall work, mission and needs of our congregation.
Meeting Date: First Sunday of each month at 12:15 p.m.

Facilities Committee

Mission: To guide the congregation's response to church facility and grounds up-keep issues.
Meetings: Third Tuesday, 6:30 p.m.

Finance Committee

Mission: To coordinate and provide oversight for the financial well being of the church; to provide support to the treasurer and assist in developing the annual pledge drive, operating budget, and general fund-raising efforts; to set up the annual audit and perform treasurer's duties in his or her absence. Treasurer performs accounting and banking functions.
Meeting Date: Second Monday of each month at 5:30 p.m.

Hospitality Committee

Mission: To provide food and drink following morning Sunday Services and co-ordinate end-of-month potluck luncheons. We believe that trusting, caring, deeply connected people have, since the beginning of time, shared food as an act of community in fellowship. When attention is paid to food sharing, the act of nurturing the body becomes symbolic of the nurturing of lives. Civilization depends on sharing resources in a just, humane and deliberate manner. Each time hands are held, special fine words spoken, and/or food sharing is done in peace and grace, we celebrate a sense of belonging together. Our food sharing becomes an act of humanity and an opportunity for investment with the spirit of communion, spiritual fellowship, as a community.
Meetings: Second Sunday of each month at 12:30 p.m.

Membership Committee

Mission: To foster acceptance of one another in the spirit of fellowship with special attention to new persons coming to the church; to acquaint newcomers with the rights and responsibilities of membership in this congregation; encourage spiritual growth by organizing UU orientation programs; and to offer induction opportunities for new members.
