About Our Congregation

We are a self-activating congregation of more than 100 members. Sunday Services, which start at 11 a.m., typically include a sermon, an inspirational talk, or an educational presentation. Our speakers are normally members, visiting ministers, or resource people from the community, which includes Western Kentucky University. Presentations tend to address forms of spirituality (UU traditions, Buddhism, Black Theology, Islam, etc.), social justice issues, science, or topics in the arts. Our speakers often discuss to what extent traditional practices and words like worship, prayer, and evil can be meaningful for thinking people today.

Children in our Religious Exploration program participate in activities that engage their minds, bodies, and spirits. We have an active Youth Group for middle and high school students. We love to sing and normally do, with musical accompaniment, in our Sunday Services. The Adult Forum, which meets Sundays at 10 a.m. (the hour before the Sunday Service), discusses books, spiritual topics, and social justice issues of interest to participants. Our Social Action Committee is active on several local projects. We welcome newcomers and guests to our Sunday Services and other activities.
